So, anyway it appears it's doing enough for him to use it at school, and I don't want to explore the driver issue right now because he's taking an on-line driver safety course with the laptop he uses the printer with.

It was setup or somehow changed because it was connected to the school's network.and I'm pretty sure I never got through a total driver/options install on it.

The drivers are missing, but it prints from Word and Notepad.and now to the embarrassing part.back in May 2016 I was having trouble with this printer ( the setup of it ) after our son brought it back from school. Not sure that's how I would have had the printer let you know something was wrong. I'm guessing since it didn't know the ink level, it was just hanging.saying it was printing the alignment page, but doing nothing. Somehow my son installed an an empty black cartridge, and the tri-color was empty too, so I replaced both with new, and it printed the alignment page fine, and scanned it fine, and now all is well. This sounds like a global thing (yes?).I just want to fix my printer, not start downloading other items.the system runs fine except for this printer issue popping up after changing the ink cartridges.Īny advice will be appreciated and thank you for your time.

So I select View and Change Settings from the above pic and get to the following pic:ĭ110_4 which is asking me if I want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for my devices. So now I get to a screen which states "Allow driver updates to be installed, This printer has been working for two years.

Selected "Apply this fix", got device has no drivers and Windows Update isn't configured to install drivers, Ran "Troubleshooting" on the device, and it comes up saying the driver is not installed. The printer won't even print/copy as a standalone. Discard or recycle the alignment page.This happened after changing one of the ink cartridges. The product scans the alignment page and completes the alignment process.ġ3.

During ink-backup mode, the printer can only print jobs from the computer. The ink-backup mode is initiated when a print cartridge is removed from the print cartridge carriage. Use the ink-backup mode to operate the printer by using only one print cartridge. You do not need to replace the print cartridges until print quality becomes unacceptable. Consider getting replacement print cartridges when you receive a low-ink warning message. Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. So if you are not a frequent printer, go with the regular cartridges. Our advice is that if you print often, go with XL. They will be able to print at least double the pages of a regular cartridge. XL (Extra Large) cartridges cost more but do provide better value in the long run. HP recommends that you use original HP ink cartridges.
Cartridges are not compatible between different brands, and often not within the same brand. Make sure you purchase the right ink cartridges for your specific printer.
